Thank you for the practice

Reflection is good. Practice being thankful

As my Heavenly Father and I sit here considering the seasons, the years, the week, the day’s events, and tomorrows.

He asks do you remember how you got here?

Through tears, I nod. Yes.

I was so broken.

I was so unthankful.

I had forgotten the beauty of Christ and his ability, power, grace, and mercy.

The book in this bathroom pages began to turn, my husband’s Bible.

I had forgotten His love.

Broken, I had to practice being thankful for where I was and for how I got there.

I had to ask forgiveness for my forgetfulness of His love, grace, and mercy.

Remember to practice

Practice being thankful for the hurt.

Practice being thankful in the dark.

Practice being thankful for my family.

Practice being thankful for my friends.

Even when I didn’t feel true thankfulness.

Then slowly there was a small flicker of light and I was so thankful.

There were flowers and color returned.

Then a strange event after months in the dark- I laughed and it startled me. Then, I laughed in thanksgiving.

After 9 years, I am eternally grateful for my Heavenly Father, constantly coming after me in the dark and bringing me back to the light.

Each morning I can thank Him for the new thing He will do for my good and His glory. Knowing that even if it does not look good, He is there working, going before me.

I know I can trust Him.

I know He is faithful.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for where you brought me from and where I could have been.

Thank you for doing abundantly more than I could have ever imagined!

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
