Mission Accomplished

I DID IT! I DID IT!

I finished reading the Bible from cover to cover. On January 1, 2019 I began following a guide with a devotional. It took me 2 years and 48 days. Not only did I read the Bible, but I studied the devotional part, crossed references and tried to absorb as much as I could. You may think it took me a long time. People read through the Bible in one year. Time was not my goal. My goal was to learn and find a closeness to God and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Normally for me something so long would get me frustrated and I would quit, but, truthfully, I enjoyed every minute. I woke up each morning anticipating reading the Living Word.

Jesus, the Word

The creation in Genesis 1 &2  begins the Bible about Jesus. John 1:1,3 tells us that Jesus was the Word and all things were created through Him.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:13, 20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Share the Gospel

The Bible ends with our Lord Jesus Christ! How often in recent months have we prayed “Come, Lord Jesus, Come!” He patiently waits until everyone has an opportunity to know Him. We must be diligent about sharing the gospel and Christ’s love with others.

“In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Tree of Life

The Bible begins and ends with the “tree of life”. In heaven, there will be trees bearing fruits. Psalm 1 compares people to a tree planted beside streams of water. When we find delight in the Lord and meditate on His word day and night, we will not wither, but find our strength in Him. The word for tree (xylos) is sometimes used to describe the cross.

“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:20-21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Come, Lord Jesus

Come! The Bible is one long invitation to come to Jesus. You don’t want to miss the wonders of the Holy City. Most importantly, you don’t want to miss eternity with Jesus Christ!

I accomplished my mission and I am so thankful I did. It has been a blessing beyond measure. I think I may start over.

About Paula Wallace

A child of God, wife, mother and grandmother of 6 precious children. I love art, nature and treasure my dear friends. Through the valleys and mountaintops, God led me to His saving grace at the age of 32. Since then the valleys and mountaintops have proven His love to me. I am learning to trust Him in all things. My prayer is that you, too, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and trust Him. The Bible verse that I lean on mostly is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.”NKJV Paula Wallace

So many, I included, will read the Bible through only to say we read the Bible through. But to actually study it, run down the “rabbit trails” is an awesome accomplishment!
This past year, I got most of the way through, but still would skip days, even weeks, try to catch up by doing nothing but reading all day and getting frustrated. But one thing is for sure, no matter how I do it, I still get something out of it and each time I read the same thing over and over, I find something new and falling in love with Jesus even more!
Congratulations on your accomplishment of reading and studying all the way through! Definitely
Doing it again will make you love Jesus even more! We can never get enough Jesus!
