Appreciating My Mom

Appreciating “My Mom”

22 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

One thing about growing older with your mom is that you come to appreciate all that she does, the sacrifices she makes, and who she is. I did not get to do this. Losing my mom at a young age has been the hardest thing in my life to get use to.

Appreciate Mom

Many of my mom’s friends, for example, would sometimes cut their eyes at me or put me in my place when I was not kind to my mom. They tried to help me see how blessed I was to have a mom like Brenda. All of my friends saw it and always told me how great my mom was. I knew I was blessed and my mom was the best mom, but I didn’t fully appreciate her while she was here. The hardest thing to come to terms with is knowing I never told her how much I appreciated her. She knew I loved her, but I know how it must have hurt her heart to feel unappreciated.

Appreciate your Mom today

We all know we can’t go back, but oh how I wish I could rewind and tell her how much I appreciated all that she did for me. She loved me when I certainly didn’t deserve it. My mom believed in me when she shouldn’t have. Not only did she not give up on me but she was blessing to Nick. I would love to especially thank her for showing me what a mom looks like so that I can pass it on.

Remembering Mom’s love

I remember the last time I went to my mom’s house. Her eyes said it all. She was thrilled to see Nick and I. I was in a hurry and didn’t appreciate the love I saw in her eyes that day. I get a lump in my throat every time I think of this moment. So if you still have your mom, don’t rush your phone calls, appreciate the love in her eyes when she sees you, let her do things for you, and remember her daily. I love you mom!

“Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her:
There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:28-31 (NLT)

Counting My Blessings,

Susan Browder

About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18. My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

We would love to hear from you
