Calm after storm

BE STILL TO HEAR…

BE STILL TO HEAR…

Psalm 46:10 English Standard Version (ESV)
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth!”

“Do you hear that?” My husband paid no attention to me. “Do you hear that?” I asked again. “Hear what?” He asked looking puzzled. “Nothing…isn’t it lovely?” A storm had come through and knocked the power out through town. It was so quiet. Not even vehicles were traveling down the road. Wow…I could hear myself think. I was enjoying it too. How could something so simple be so fascinating and enjoyable to me? Quiet time is something so precious this day in time.

Distractions

There is something always taking away our attention. We are a busy society. It is like we are not accomplishing anything if we are not going wide open from the time our eyes open until they close at night. No wonder we are all tired and irritable. We don’t have time for ourselves, not to mention anyone else. Our relationships suffer, our physical and emotional health suffer but even worse our spiritual relationship suffers too.

Created for relationships

We are created for relationship with the Lord, with fellowship with other…To glorify God to encourage and witness to others. Sadly, both are suffering more and more every day. This is why when there are no distractions, no television, cell phones, computers, no power to operate these things, I get excited.

Recharge

But just as these need power to operate, so do we. We are running on our own power and we are running low. We must stop and recharge with THE POWERFUL ONE. The ONLY ONE who can charge us spiritually so that we may be filled with the power of the Lord. We are like everything else, we were are running low, we are not very productive. We were not meant to be this way. It is sad that it takes power outage to slow us down. For some, it may be something more, like an illness.

Ponderings

Why are we so stubborn that we must be forced to sit at Jesus feet and listen? Why don’t we take time to do it now? How much more would we and others benefit if we didn’t wait? Take time today, do not wait for tomorrow; it may never come for you or someone else. Enjoy the moments the Lord has given you. Glorify and worship as we were meant to do. Encourage and love on others; take time to tell them about the Lord.

Recharge with Jesus
