Lost and Found

Thank you Lorie, For beginning Easter week with a reminder Jesus death was the sacrifice for all to be found and redeemed from the curse of sin. We were lost but now we are found! Lost and found! Keeping our relationship fresh with Jesus is vital. Thanks for the reminder Lorie.

Lost and Found

Luke 15:32 ~ It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.

Have you ever had to check the lost and found box to see where something was? I am sure if you have children you have probably searched these places more than once. You know the routine, knowing it is important you find the item you are looking for. You stop and take a break to think about where you last saw it. Once you remember, then you mentally trace your steps. Then the search begins to retrieve the item you lost. How true and similar this is with our relationship with our Lord and Savior.

There may be a time when you feel like your relationship is not what is used to be. Like there is something lacking; like it is not as strong as it used to be. You realize this relationship is the most important relationship you can have.

Romans 5:8 ~”But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

So, you stop and take a break, trying to think where the relationship changed… where it got lost among all of the daily routine.

Job 6:24 ~”Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray.”

You remember when your relationship was strong and your daily reliance was completely on HIM. Nothing seemed to dampen your spirit or ruffle your feathers. You were so eager to tell everyone about the love of your Lord and about His saving grace. You were on fire for Him and His work.

Then you begin to remember a problem, which led to this problem, which led to another problem. Pretty soon you realize that you gradually began to leave the Lord out of your daily routine and problems. As the problems grew, you became weak. You begin to focus more your circumstances instead of on the only One who can bring true comfort to you during these times. You begin to rely on others advice and emotions. Oh, my emotions…so unreliable. Those emotions will start making up things and seeing things differently.

But, as you trace your steps back you realize where your lost “item” was…. exactly where you left it. So true with our Lord…. He is exactly where we left Him. He never leaves us, He never turns us loose, He never stops loving us.

Deuteronomy 31:8 ~ “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

We are the ones who left Him; we are the ones that walk away, that turned loose. But I am so grateful, whenever I look for HIM, He is always right there, patiently waiting for me. Waiting for me to seek Him, waiting for me to long for His guidance, His words, His comfort. As long as we have breath in our bodies, it is never too late to seek Him.

Sometimes we have to stop and be still. Seek Him with all our hearts and trust in Him.

Deuteronomy 4:29 “But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
