Recognizing When God Speaks

Recognizing When God Speaks

“Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him.: Deuteronomy 13:4 (NIV)

We all have read, heard, or seen what Joy Behar said about Mike Pence’s christian faith. She said that it is one thing to talk to Jesus, but it is another thing when Jesus talks to you. She stated hearing God’s voice is “a mental illness.” As much as our flesh wants to battle it out with people like Joy, God wants us to love others even when we do not see eye to eye or are in a nauseating situation. Saying this is difficult, is an understatement.

Before I “grew up,” I would get advice on important things only from other people. Now, I have numerous conversations daily with God. I seek his advice above anyone else’s. I have learned this the hard way. I’ve learned to pray before making my choices. I did this before I “grew up,” but only heard the answers that I wanted to hear.

God is continuously speaking to you and I. So many times we just fail to notice it. It requires a relationship with him. Hearing from God comes in so many designs. I have never heard God’s audible voice yet. I know in my experiences, hearing from God comes in forms of promptings, in times where I was so overwhelmed with fear and then instantly calmed, being guided through horrible events, and through His hands of miraculous healing. Hearing from God requires us to be quiet, to listen, to have faith, and to pray.

Everyday I am reminded of John 15:5. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV)

Counting My Blessings,

About Susan Browder

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”  Hebrews 11:1 I grew up in a small town in Alabama called Boligee. I am a wife and a mom to two sons, Nick who is 24 and married to his sweet wife, Mallory, and Jacob who is 18.  My husband, Nicky, is a person of who I am so proud. Our lives changed forever on September 6, 2014 about 7:00 pm. Our son, Jacob, had an accident that would deeper our faith in God and challenge us in ways we never dreamed. My prayer is that our story will encourage others in their struggles with life altering experiences. My writing will be our testimonies but more than that it is about how we have a loving, caring God that carries us through the most difficult times of our lives.

We would love to hear from you
