Transformation of the Heart

Hearts are transformed by the light of the Son

“Transformed Heart”

“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.” Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT)

“One More Chance”

Many of you have heard so many of the “Brenda stories” about my mom, but I want to share a very important one. When she died on September 18, 1996, my world and heart were shattered. I wanted one more chance to talk with her to say all of my “I am sorry” and to reverse every mistake I had ever made that caused her pain. I had so many dreams, or nightmares, of me trying to talk with her and she never responded to me.  She just sat and stared at me in my dreams without saying a word.

“Taking a Good Look’

I have often thought about and related to “A Christmas Carol.” I feel like God makes me take a good look at my heart, who am I, and how have my choices affected others. He makes me examine my “Scrooge’ moments. So often I find myself thinking about numerous do-overs and being given another opportunity to do it right. Well, of course, I can’t change the past, but after taking a good look at my heart in 1996, a transformation occurred.

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”   Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

Scrooge Moments

What about you? Has your heart been transformed? Do you have your “Scrooge” moments? Is there someone in your life who deserves a second chance? Nothing is impossible and God can transform anyone’s life.

Introspection

So this Christmas season, I encourage you to look at how some of the choices you have made have affected your life. Is there someone you need to reach out to?  How can you do it better today? Think about the future and what you hope for it. Make the choices today that get you closer to where you want to be and the heart you want others to see.

Counting My Blessings,
