Fear Not #12
Deuteronomy 1:21 Behold the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee, fear not, neither be discouraged. (KJV)
Well, discouragement and fear seem to be the evil twins of this verse. Do they go everywhere together? This has been my experience. But maybe you are stronger than me. I have admitted I am a frightened mess inside most of the time–Chicken Little (August 17, 2015). I fear much!
Disobedience had brought huge consequences to the Jews–40 years of wandering around like chickens without heads in the desert, dependent on the unseen hand of God for food, water, everything! At long last all the nay sayers were dead: They will not even see the Promised Land. SAD! But I sure see myself in this clip of slow motion Biblical narrative. God says, “Go.” I say “wait.” Then opportunity knocks no more–no, wait, it knocks, but NOT for me.
Moses is reminding a new generation of what their fathers knew but failed to act upon. THE LAND IS YOURS! Go get it! Don’t get cold feet, keep your eyes on the prize. Don’t look back. Look forward. Look up!
Are you discouraged? I sure am. Decades long heartaches that appear to have no solution. It is easy to allow ourselves the “luxury” of fear and discouragement unless we determine at the outset: NO TURNING BACK. Set firm in your mind: God said it, I believe it, and that settles it!
Don’t give one second to listening to the lies of the enemy (anyone, anything opposing what the Lord has said and asked you to do)! Behold, Look and see, really see. The victory is already secured. Go claim your Promised Land and I will try to do the same!
Treading still,
Yvonne
Just imagine what God could do through us if we didn’t’ have the fear of what others may think of us. Hmmm. Let me rephrase that. Just imagine what I could do if I did not have the fear of what others think of me!!!
Thanks Von!
Yvonne, thank you for this posting. I don’t always get to read these, but I really enjoyed this one. I do hope all you ladies continue to write. So many of us read the posting but don’t comment. Then days later something may happen and we travel back to what we have read here. Although we fail to tell you we thank you!
