What Life Would Be Like

What Life Would Be Like

Let us go into the next town, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth. Mark 1:32-39

Jesus began his public ministry after John was put in prison. He began in Galilee “preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.” (v. 14-15)

He has called disciples, cast out an unclean spirit, and healed a town full of sick people at the door of Peter’s house. The next morning he rises very early to find a solitary place to pray.

Peter finds Him and tells Him everyone is looking for Him. Jesus simply says, “Let us go into the next town, that I may preach there also, because for this purpose I have come forth.”

Jesus always knew His purpose. The Gospel of Mark leads us through what life would be like if we walked in obedience to the Father. What would our life look like if we walked each day with the God-given purpose of our life. Jesus was divine, He could do all that, we can’t, you say, right? Wrong!

Philippians 2:5- 7 “When the time came, he set aside the privileges of deity and took on the status of a slave, became human! Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.” (Message Translation)

2 Peter 1:2-3 “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord , as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us according to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

Jesus laid aside His divine nature to come as a man to experience what every person faces in a sinful world. But because of Calvary, He broke the power of sin and death gave us His divine nature and everything we need for life and godliness.

We have a purpose! He placed within us the Holy Spirit and a spiritual gift to accomplish what we are design to do here.

This week, I hope you will consider this! It will transform your life!

We are not without purpose.  Find out what your gift(s) are and begin using them for the glory of God and Jesus who loves you more than we can think or imagine! Talk with your pastor or leader or Sunday School teacher. Find someone who has walked the road ahead of you, ask them to mentor you.
