In the NAME of the LORD We Pray

bird in the morning

It is 5:00 a.m. and I hear the sudden eruption of song…………..the chorus of birds in the rafters just outside the door have been awakened by the first hints of dawn’s light on the horizon.  Their tweets, peeps, whistles, coos and mirade of cheerful sounds evidences their pure joy of the sun rising–start of a new day, a day that who knows may bring His return.

This is something I miss when I am not working because I don’t do sunrise!  Sunset yes!  Sunrise, ummm not so much.  The Word says that the earth shouts the glory of the Lord (Isaiah 42:12, Psalm 98:4, Psalm 29:3, Psalm 19:1, Luke 19:28-40 to mention a few)

I live among those who PREFER (actually demand) that I keep my joy to myself until they have had time to wake up and get going (after 10:00 a.m.).  LOL  They think I am just a wee bit too chipper in the morning.  Truth is, I have to work at it but who wants to be around a grump in the morning?  I am just trying to “do unto others”………….some just don’t appreciate it.

Biological clocks differ.  Night owls.  Chickens.  Moles.  Eagles.  Hamsters.  Ants

Personalities differ.  Lions.  Beavers.  Golden Retrievers.  Badgers.

Love languages differ.  Gifts.  Words.  Touch.  Time.  (RIP Gary Smalley)

Students differ.  Kinesthetic.  Auditory.  Visual.  Combination.

Drivers differ.  Grandma’s on Sunday afternoon, Indy, Rage(er)s, Teen. Distracted.

Writers differ.  Tricia the Tuned in one.  Freda the Scholar/Insightful Poet.  Bonnie the Compassionate one.  Lisa the Praying one.  Sharon the Patient one.  Yvonne the Chicken Little.  One is conversational, one historical, one is timid, one is instructional, I would be a “little out there”.

Sorrows differ.   Disease.  Death.  Divorce.  Debt.   Distrust.  Disenfranchised.

We Treaders learn from each other.  We read and discuss posts with each other.  We keep each other accountable.  We are honest with each other, risking even hurting feelings for the honor of the Lord.  We each bring something different to the table.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out I struggle with issues.  I will be honest, one of the Treaders  intimidates me to no end!  I wish I had her “connection” with the LORD!  I do not see visions, and dream dreams.  I wish I did.  I could use the clarity!  But let me tell you, if you need a group to pray for you–this is the group to do it!   We are all very different.  We PRAY but we pray from different vantage points, different areas of experience, different levels of faith, and different realms in the Spirit.  We can cry with you (that’s me, just sayin’), we can hold you up to the Lord, one can give you a Word from the Lord (that’s not me), one can hold you accountable for your part, one will show you compassion and grace, one will help you connect the dots of what’s happening and why, and ALL will take you boldly before the Lord’s throne and commit you and your petitions to the ONE “who alone can make all things new!”  I know!  I took a concern to these prayer warriors and they have and continue to pray over this on my behalf while encouraging me to continue to “be still and be quiet” (UGHHHHH!) as the Lord has instructed.  From earth’s vantage point the concern is NOT going to ever change.  But God has assured me through His Word it will.    I went back through all the posts of one of the writers and the Lord had me write down from each post what stood out to me.  Over 16 weeks He had been speaking to me and I totally missed it!  He showed me I would not LET HIM put me under His wing, that I did not trust Him to drive out the enemies from before me; He reminded me He does have a plan and it is GOOD, that the forces attacking my family could and would be broken!  After all He has the keys to sin, death, bondage, sickness, oppression, etc..   He will keep us and them from harm;  He has placed ministering angels and warrior angels, and guardian angels in strategic places.  ALL this was for me!

Let us do what the Lord has called us to do:  Support you and your loved ones in prayer, encourage you through our ramblings, and lock arms with you in the battle.  His covenant is with us, our children and our grandchildren.  Isn’t this where we struggle the most?

I think we forget, Jesus has already won the battle.  He has ALL the keys!  Satan has NONE.  Jesus knows which key is needed to unlock your chain, your prison cell, your shut door, your unopened treasure, your child(ren’s) hearts, and to lock the doors that need to be locked for your protection, healing, or reconciliation.

In Nehemiah, the first chapter, Nehemiah hears of the plight of “his brothers” (fellow Jews) in Jerusalem:  They are “in great distress and reproach.”  This breaks Nehemiah’s heart and his response is not “oh, bless their hearts,” his response is FASTING, WEEPING, and PRAYING for many days.  He seeks the Lord on behalf of those he has never met but because they are his “kin” he cares deeply about what is happening in their lives.  He went before the “great and awesome God, who keeps His word, is merciful, and forgiving” because Nehemiah understood that what affects one affects us all!  (a broken little toe affects an entire body!)

The Treaders want to “throw out the Life ring for you!  Can we be your prayer partner?  It would be our honor and privilege!  Not all of us write but we all pray.   You are His servant, one of His redeemed and we desire to seek the LORD on your behalf.    You need not tread water alone!  Email us at:

sisters@treadingwatertiljesuscomes.com

Through the email, you will remain private and so will your petition!  We hold confidences as sacred.

If one of these writers has been rubbing you the wrong way, see it as a ploy by the enemy to blind you to the message the LORD has for you.  The writer who was writing is probably your best bet to pray for you!  They have the TEE Shirt!  The Super Bowl ring!  The scars to prove they understand your battle.

Jesus said, “19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”  Matthew 18:19  Do you believe this?  Are you willing to prove God’s word?  What have you got to lose?  What do you have to gain?  This is a gamble you should take.  Throw the dice friends!

This will turn your sorrow into joy, your weeping into laughter, and your cries into song!

About Yvonne Jones

I am at heart, a LIFEguard: "big" sister, mama, grandmother, aunt, friend, swimming coach, lifeguard trainer, and registered nurse. I am in the business of alleviating fear through education and lots of hand holding. As a swimming instructor, I have taught people of all ages to overcome fear of the water and I marvel as fear gives way to fearlessness, as panic turns to pure joy, as tears dissolve into giggles of glee, and pennies retrieved from the bottom of the abyss become trophies. As a nurse, I have been privileged to walk up to Heaven's gate as patients and family are welcomed home, witnessed the miracle of birth, helped mend broken hearts, and cared for the elderly as they wait. Scriptures number one admonition is "fear not." Question is HOW??? The Word becomes our swimming instructor and can help us learn to "tread water til Jesus comes." Something my students often thought I was going to make them do! So welcome to my pool! Jump in the cool water. Let it refresh your soul and feel the unseen hands of the Master Lifeguard lift you up and out of the deep water. Who knows, you just might even walk on water!
