“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32 KJV)
Sheep–not the smartest or most courageous of critters. Cute, sweet, gentle, docile. They live in flocks. Spook one and all run! Easily stressed and if cornered, they try to act big and bad by charging, butting, stamping, and rearing up on hind legs. Laughable really. These creatures are really easy prey for predators, especially if isolated from the flock and shepherd.
WE all like sheep have gone astray (Isaiah 53:6). Is this why the Father has to constantly remind us to not be afraid? (March 7, 2016, Fearful Sheep/Fearless Shepherd) We don’t trust the shepherd much less the Father. Psalm 23 is a list of all the Father desires to give: Green pastures, quiet waters, paths through the dark valley, companionship, honor, love, loyalty, and a home with HIM forever. This is HIS delight!
So, this little ole ewe can breathe and not constantly have to be on “high alert.” Ahhhhh,
Peace, I could use some of this. Why then do I venture away from the peaceable kingdom? Sometimes, I am just not bright: Act just like dumb sheep. See the “deer in the headlight” look? They just don’t believe it. Neither do we.
What is the kingdom really like? Revelation describes it: Feasting, streets of gold, gates of pearl, water crystal clear, bright Son shining, mansions, peace, worship, singing, laughter, no tears, no death, no pain, no sickness, no evil, a return to “walking with God in the cool of the Garden.”
Do we grasp the fact that it was the FATHER’s pleasure to restore this to us His wayward children? Do we comprehend the cost to Him? If the Father, willingly allowed His Son to come to earth and give up His glory and be restricted to space and time and a human body and then take on that precious frame the sin of man and redeem the world from the effects of sin, then would He not keep the rest of His promises? YES! YES! YES!
So, why do I continue to live in fear? I am a sheep. Baaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
