Fear Not Your God Will Come You Are Not Forgotten (#38)

Your God Will Come by Nick Robertson

Isaiah 35:4   Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not, behold your God will come with a vengeance, even God with a recompense; He will come and save you.  (KJV)

A ladies ensemble I sing with (a story in itself!) sings this song based on Isaiah 35.  The song is one of my favorites, probably because I am a “fearful heart.”  Oh, people think I am strong, full of courage, not afraid of anything.  My vat of tears testifies differently.  I am not scared of living alone in the middle of nowhere.  I hold up in a crisis like a heart attack at 36,000 feet over the north Atlantic or critical injuries at work.  Relationships are an entirely different matter!  I am a WHIMP in the presence of strong personalities.  My brain goes to mush during verbal assault;  confrontation I avoid at all costs, and I HATE when others, especially those I love are unhappy with me.  It is in this place I want a God of vengeance and recompense!  It is at these times I need a rescue–I am still in deep water…..drowning.  This “little girl” cannot stand animosity between others and I will apologize just to make the situation go away.  Not smart but momentarily effective.

Thankfully, I did not raise my children to be like me!  PTL!  The Beauties are not like me either.  Speaking their minds is NOT a problem!  They can and will do it in a New York minute and never hesitate.  Yes, sometimes they offend; rarely with malice.  People know where they stand.

I recently saw a quote on Pinterest:

“The first to apologize is the bravest.
The first to forgive is the strongest,
The first to forget is the happiest.”

Hmmmm, maybe I am doing better than I give this “fearful heart” credit for!  How about you?  Fear not my friends, your God will come!  He has not forgotten you!!

He will send you an encouraging word.

Keep your eyes open today, look for Him.  It may surprise you how “your God will come.”

Waiting on the Lifeguard,

Yvonne

About Yvonne Jones

I am at heart, a LIFEguard: "big" sister, mama, grandmother, aunt, friend, swimming coach, lifeguard trainer, and registered nurse. I am in the business of alleviating fear through education and lots of hand holding. As a swimming instructor, I have taught people of all ages to overcome fear of the water and I marvel as fear gives way to fearlessness, as panic turns to pure joy, as tears dissolve into giggles of glee, and pennies retrieved from the bottom of the abyss become trophies. As a nurse, I have been privileged to walk up to Heaven's gate as patients and family are welcomed home, witnessed the miracle of birth, helped mend broken hearts, and cared for the elderly as they wait. Scriptures number one admonition is "fear not." Question is HOW??? The Word becomes our swimming instructor and can help us learn to "tread water til Jesus comes." Something my students often thought I was going to make them do! So welcome to my pool! Jump in the cool water. Let it refresh your soul and feel the unseen hands of the Master Lifeguard lift you up and out of the deep water. Who knows, you just might even walk on water!
