Seeking His Face

What does it mean to “Seek His Face?”

Seeking the Lord’s face means to seek His presence, to have access to our Father God.  We are not coming near to Him for what He can do for us (what His hand can provide), but for the intimate relationship, for our heart to become like His, full of love and compassion.  We come seeking Him and the “oneness“ that Jesus talked about.

That they all may be “One“ as Thou, Father art in Me, and I in Thee, that they may be “One“ in Us … John 17:21a-b

When is the best time to “Seek His Face?”

The perfect time is when our Father calls us to come and “be still,”  to come and “sit at His feet,” to come and “seek His face,” and to come and “soar with Me.”  He has drawn especially near to us and wants to love on us and us to love on Him.  He desires to open our eyes of understanding and reveal new Truth from His Holy Word.  He, also, wants to show us new dimensions of His Fatherhood over us, ways He looks out for us as His beloved.

“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him, while He is near.” Isaiah 55:6

To give you an example, my 10 year old granddaughter Gabby and I were doing some extra work on her Social Studies. At first, she was sitting in the chair next to me; slowly, our conversation changed to things relating to the Lord and His Word.  Before long she was upon her knees leaning in toward me. As we talked, she reached up and stroked my face and said “I love you.”  She continued asking questions, and each time she would move a little closer.

The Lord was drawing her right in close like He does us when He calls and we answer.  Before long, she was sitting right in front of me with her face against mine, loving on me.  (Of course, I was loving back on her.)  Leaning back to look me in the face, she said, “Memaw, God’s right here isn’t He.” To which I answered, “Yes, baby, He has wrapped us up in His arms, and He is loving on us.”

“For where two or three are gathered together in my Name, there am I in the midst of them.”  Matthew 18:20

What are some things that we have to choose to do in order to have His Presence in our daily lives?

We must choose to lay aside “our busyness,”

Refuse to let duties take over and control this time of  “Seeking of our Lord’s Face,”

Prioritize our time, setting aside ourselves just for Him,

Focusing our hearts, our thoughts, and our emotions upon the Father and He alone.

“Then, shall ye call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me (seek My Face), and I will hearken unto you.

And ye shall seek Me (My Face) and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart.

And I will be found of you, saith the Lord: and I will turn away your captivity.”  Jeremiah 29:12-14a

Song: “The More I Seek You” by Kari Jobe

Chorus:
The more I seek You, the more I find You,
The more I find You, the more I love You.

I wanna sit at Your feet,  drink from the cup in Your hand,
Lay back against You and breathe,  feel Your heartbeat,
This love is so deep,  It’s more than I can stand.
I melt in Your peace,  It’s overwhelming.

Continuing to Seek His Face,
