Thankful for God’s Plan

Well, here we are just days before Thanksgiving Day, and my thoughts are filled with  “Exactly, what am I thankful for?”  A few days ago, I woke up with this song rolling through my heart and it says so plainly what I’m feeling.

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul, Thank You, Lord, for making me whole,
Thank You, Lord, for giving to me, Thou great salvation so rich and free.

The most important thing that I am thankful for is that before the world’s foundation was ever laid, God had a plan.  He chose me to be His daughter.  He handpicked me!!  (And He also handpicked you to become one of His adopted children.)  His good pleasure was for me to know His Son, Jesus, personally as my Savior.  (Ephesians 1:4-5)

He knew everyone of my flaws (the sin nature) that I was born with, yet with “His cords of love,” (Hosea 11:4a,  Jeremiah 31:3) He lassoed my heart and drew me into the most wonderful relationship with Himself through Jesus Christ, my Redeemer and Lord.

I remember the longing He placed in my heart to know Him.  There was a hunger that nothing else could fill or satisfy. He placed a prayer in my heart, “Lord, I want to really know You and to know that I truly belong to You.  Please send someone to show me what to do.”

God sent that “someone” one Saturday morning: our pastor Bro. David Barrentine and a visiting minister of music leader.  Bro. David asked me if I had ever asked Jesus into my heart, to which I replied “no, but I want to.”  He shared Revelation 3:20 with me:

“Behold, I stand at the door (my heart’s door) and knock: if any man (or little girl) will hear my voice, and open the door, I WILL COME IN AND LIVE WITH THEM’ and he (or she) with Me.”

That Saturday morning in August changed my life forever as I swung the doors of my heart wide open and invited Jesus to become my Savior.  This song says it so well:

(Selah – Into My Heart / Fairest Lord Jesus)

Come into my heart, Lord Jesus, Come in today,
Come in to stay,  Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.

I had a new song in my heart:

“Now I belong to Jesus, Jesus belongs me,
Not for the years of time alone, but for eternity.”

There is nothing that would cause God’s heart to rejoice more than for you (who do not know Jesus as your Savior) to open your heart’s door and say:

“Jesus, come into my heart today and save me from all my sins and live with me forever.  I want to truly “K- N-O-W” You and belong to You.”

Let this be a Thanksgiving that you will always remember, a family homecoming like never before.

May you and your family have a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving together.

Thankful for His blessings,

Tricia
