I believe some of the most beautiful “love” songs were recorded during my teenage years of the 60’s. In 1963, there was a little 4 foot 9 inch girl named “Peggy March” who hit the pop charts with one of my favorite songs “I will follow him”. When I met my sweetheart, Buddie, I would sing it thinking of him. I’m sure it was only intended as a love song between a girl and a guy who were infatuated with each other.
But, as my relationship with the Lord changed and deepened, I began to see the him in the song as “Him” (My Savior, my Lord, My Father, my Daddy, my All).
Song: “I will follow Him”
I will follow Him,
Follow Him wherever He may go,
There isn’t an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high it can keep me away, away from my Love.
Ever since He touched my heart I knew
That near Him I always must be,
And nothing can keep Him from me,
“He is my destiny”!
I love Him, I love Him, I love Him
And where He goes, I’ll follow, I’ll follow, I’ll follow,
He’ll always be my true love, my true love, my true love.
From now until forever, forever, forever,
I will follow Him ! ! !
As He has encouraged me to “follow Him” thru the years, I now sing this song to the “One” who has given my life so much completeness and fulfillment.
“For this reason I bow my knees (my heart) to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
……that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith,
……and you may know the love of Christ. (Eph. 3:14-19)
As I have committed my life to the Lord, won’t you come do the same with yours?
